Choose a default font. To change the default font for incoming and outgoing messages: Select Outlook > Preferences > Fonts. In the Default fonts for composing messages section click the Font button next to the composition style you want to edit. For example, click Font next to New mail to select a default font for new messages. Apr 17, 2018 Change Default Font in Outlook 2011 for Mac Most users would change the default settings of spam filters, modify your folders style, and many more modifications like that in Outlook 2011 for Mac. However, there are certain elements inside your email clients (and the emails you receive) that remain in their default style.
Does the file need to be repaired? Also the file says it is compressed with a size on disk of 1200000kb. I have no idea why this pst would be compressed. I am afraid also if I take off the compression the pst will mess up. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated?
In Outlook while writing an email I do not see the option 'item' under 'Insert'. On my business laptop with XP Office Professional edition 2003 I can do this option. I cannot do it with my personal laptop with Office Basic edition 2003 (XP Media Edition). Neither is the option 'Signature' under 'Insert' available. Is it a setting or is it the version? Hi, Impossible to save a video file from Outlook Video Email Add-in.

I systematically get an error message 'failed to convert a file to WMV format'. Can somebody what is going on? Thanks - Pascal. 4.
I recently began using digital signatures in Outlook and noticed that I can edit a digitally signed message but the digital signature still appears to be valid. I understand that I can check the original Sent date and Modified date but shouldn't the digital signature no longer be valid? Mary, I've tried your suggested solution but there's not a section to change the font for the incoming messages. The only choices I have are: - Composing a new message - Replying and forwarding - composing and reading plain text I'm am on Outlook 2003 and using Word as my e-mail editor. I really am desperate to find a solution - we're wasting a lot of paper printing orders that only need to be on one page, but can't get the font size smaller. Any help or suggestions you have would be appreciated.
Tina Kopko Kyle Design. It sounds like she wants to print them on one page and changing the screen resolution won't help with that. Changing the fonts in tools, options, mail format should fix it for plain text messages, but html usually is hardcoded.
It may help to look in the print properties and adjust the margins. When I opened my email, the incoming mail was like a font size 8 but the message itself, was a 10 or 12. Because that is the way I had it set but didn't know how to set the incoming mail. I followed Fofo instructions and now when the top pane tells me there is new messages, they are set at the number I choose, which is a 10. If the sender of that message, had real bad vision, and used a 14 or bigger font size, it would not come into my mail box as a 14. It will come in with the font size that I selected.
Otherwise, if I have 10 people on my mailing list and each one of them has their font set at 10 different font sizes, then my incoming mail would come in as 10 different sizes. Fofo's instructions does work.
Similar Threads: 1. Does anyone have a clue as to how to go about changing the font size of incoming e-mail messages? This program isnt anything like Office 2003. Also is there ANY HOPE of changing the font size of the items under Mail tab/Personal folder ie;Deleted items, drafts, inbox, junk mail, outbox etc.its soooo small.
We have tried changing the syle also. I have changed the normal.dotm through Word also. We have tried some registry fixes to no avail. Of course, we tried through Options Mail Format and tried there. I need to know how I can change the font view to default for incoming messages? I thought that this was one of the internet explorer connections where if I change the font on IE, then it would do it for Outlook XP (also because of the Largest, Larger, Medium.
Thing, but as soon as you close the message the format goes away). We are using Office XP, IE 6, Windows XP and I'm talking about the actual message window, not the preview pane.
Hi, Version: Microsoft Outlook 2003 I was able to successfully change the font for all incoming mail via Tools - Options - Format However, this seems to only apply to Rich-Text or Plain-Text HTML emails are still arriving with whatever font the sender selected. This makes it harder for me to read since the font size is quite small. Is there any way to have my choice of font applied to all incoming HTML messages, not just Rich or Plain text? My boss has a vision problem and needs to have the font enlarged on all incoming messages. We just switched from Novell GroupWise, which allowed her to do this.
Is there a way to do this in Outlook 2007?
In Mail I can alter the font size for outgoing messages, but reading the ones in my Inbox is a chore, because the font size is so tiny. I can't find any way to zoom what is in the Inbox window, nor the incoming message text.
No Command-+, no Zoom command in any menu. Is there something I can do? I'm using a MacBook with OS 10.5.8, and the email accounts are from Gmail (mostly) and Mindspring (part of Earthlink), as well as one from Columbia University, but I haven't put that one in Mail, because the messages go directly to another account and are forwarded from there to Mail. My browser is Firefox 12 on the MacBook. I have something more primitive in the way of Firefox on my other computer, a G4 Sawtooth desktop Mac with Tiger (OS 10.4). I've never had this happen before. If anyone has a clue about this, I'll be grateful for a reply.
I see pretty well, as things stand, but it's tiring to read that tiny, tiny type. Thanks, Jenny. Lovely, but I can't do a different size for my incoming and outgoing messages, meaning that if I make the ones I'm reading nice and big, my replies will look enormous (18 point Garamond, though it looks much smaller). I could change the outgoing message size once I've composed it, of course, but that is tedious. Maybe I'd better just stick with leaving the message font sizes as they are.
Nobody has complained about not being able to read what I have the font set to now, Garamond 14 points. I wonder whether this is at least partly the function of my using my laptop. I shall have to try hooking it up to the monitor I use for my old faithful, the G4 Sawtooth. I'll try that. It's funny, though, that every other mail program seems to have a way of making everything totally readable (or 'zoom-able'), and for that matter, so does just about every other program of any kind. (Don't mind me; I'm just being grumpy.) I am grateful to you for your answer. Thank you very much, and I'll take it from here.
I was unaware of this for two reasons:. I rarely use Mail - I am a Thunderbird user.
I never send HTML messages - I prefer plain text As an ex web designer I decided to look into this. It is a general HTML problem made worse by Apple who invite users to select a font size in points and then they convert it to a loosely related font numeric size. You have to examine the source code to see this. Thunderbird gives users more control with their 'Minimum Font Size' setting. I looked for an equivalent Mail setting - sadly there is not one in Preferences but there is a hidden control: 1 - Quit Mail 2 - Open Terminal - in Utilities 3 - Paste the following into Terminal defaults write com.apple.mail MinimumHTMLFontSize 14 4 - Hit return 5 - Open Mail 6 - Test You can change the 14 to any size you want. You can adjust the normal Mail font size to a reasonable size knowing that you will always be able to read incoming messages. I hope this helps.
Thanks, Neville. I'm not sure that I want to get this involved (among other things, Terminal scares me a little), but I'll keep it in mind. I could always just return to my Gmail account and read the messages there.
There is less choice about size, and a lot less choice about fonts, but most people don't care much, so long as they can read the messages, and the incoming messages are perfectly legible.I don't know why Mail fonts look so tiny when they are in fact, not tiny at all, but that's a whole other discussion, and I don't think it's worth your time or mine to get further into the matter. Thank you for your help. I forgot to note that I also tried putting the 'size' (that is, big A, little A) feature on my toolbar, but it's greyed out and doesn't do anything what I click on it.
I think I shall just give up on this now. It seems that there are plenty of other people with the same problem, so it's not my computer or Leopard that is at fault.
I think I'll wait till the din on this grows louded and Apple is forced to do something. I wonder whether this issue has ever gotten past these forums to the folks who rule the roost at Apple. Thanks for all the suggestions. There are more essential things in life, and I do have alternatives to Mail, if I choose to go that route. I've had the same problem with not being able to read my email because font is too small.
Same issue - I tried adjusting the preferences and using the zoom command but nothing works. By the way, the zoom command in the Mail program is silly. When you do Window Zoom it actually just takes the window you are looking at and puts it in a small box.
The text size stays the same! Neville's fix is simple and it works. I did it and now I can finally read things! I've been sending test messages to people all over the place though because in the message window it does show that the font size as the size I put into Terminal (which was 18; yeah, bad eyesight) and I don't want people to think I'm shouting at them. When I go into the preferences for fonts it still shows the size that I chose (12), but it still makes me worry.
Despite the worries, this is a great improvement. Thank you Neville!
